MY MAN

Forty years ago today, August 13, I married the most remarkable man who loves, serves, and cares for me. Our first date was in the Colorado Rockies, where we quickly realized that we had similar experiences as Outward Bound participants.  The ability to survive, rock climb, cook on the open fire, to hike 10 miles a day in tough terrain, which included being balayed to avoid avalanches in snowy conditions, nearly broke us. The rigorous survival course brings comradery to those who participated in this 6-week adventure.  So, from there, I  would say my life with “my man” has been a real adventure. Living in seven states, mostly as a Marriott wife, until we landed in Florida and knew our children would not be willing to continually move every two years to LAX or Hong Kong (which was offered as the next stop on our journey.) Well, from Colorado Rockies to California, to New York, Oregon, to Atlanta, Orlando, then to Tampa our adventures have allowed us to see the mighty hand of God. Well, our first adventure really was on our honeymoon when we travel around the USA for three months visiting, sights, family, friends, and colleges. When we arrived in Miami, my persuasive mother in law finagled a last minute 4-day cruise out of Miami. What a blast! Well, back on the road we camped in the Appalachians, hit the lights of New York, plays, and outstanding dinners. Then, My Man wanted to attend the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park, New York. So we made a visit and found they had a two-year waiting list unless you lived in the area.  Well, adventurous kids, we headed back to California and picked up our Bronco and headed back out to the East coast! This is how we started our lives out together! I’m indeed a very blessed woman to love life to the fullest as I appreciate the mighty hand of God: along with His great love for us.
